Thank you
Dear Ms. Casaroto Thank you for your kind words and hearty laughs. Even though you’ve only been here for a couple of months you have help me grow into the as you say it beautiful, and smart girl you see before you today.
Many people would write this letter of appreciation to their mom or parents but for me you have been one of the most influential people in my life. And I believe that if weren’t for your kind words and letters that I wouldn’t have survived these last few months of eighth grade, because you taught me to surround myself with positive people and not to live in the past but in the present. You are a very kind person and even though most of the time I hated you for a reason unspoken you still tried to make me laugh and when I didn’t you knew that something was seriously wrong so you took the time to talk to me in private. And when I cried you gave me a shoulder to cry on and I confided in you with all my deepest secrets and you kept them from every one. So thank you for you help companionship and shoulder to cry on. Hopefully we can keep in touch no matter where life my take us so thank you once again.

Favorite Class
My Favorite Class If you were to ask kids what there favorite class was a lot would say that they didn’t have one. Well I must be different because I do have a favorite class. And I like this class based on what we do in the class not based on who the teacher is or what they look like. The one thing I like this class for is the writing. If you haven’t figured it out yet my favorite class is Language Arts. I like this class based on two things.
The main thing I like this class for is the writing. I absolutely love writing. I don’t know why I think it is because when you’re writing you are free to be you and write about limitless topics. At first in elementary I hated when we had writing assignments, but when I got into middle school I started to love it. This is because it helps me escape the daily turmoil of middle school.A have already wrote five stories since the 6th grade and I plan to publish one day but until then they will remain in the hands of only me and my close friends. My other reason for like Language Arts is because of the poetry. It just draws me in with all the rhyming words and vibrate phrases. My favorite poet Maya Angelou. I love her poetry because of the description she uses, all her work is so easy to understand and so easy to relate to. I fact a lot of them are based on her life and experiences. I also like poetry because there is many different kinds such as limericks, haikus and free verse and the list goes on and on. The last reason for my liking LA is the poets.
There are oh so many. Such as mark Twain, Maya Angelou and so more that it would take up the rest of time to list them all. For the few reason and many more I enjoy the world of Language Arts. I can only hope that as my life goes on I will continue to enjoy the class as much as I do now, but only time can tell.

Sickle Cell
May 16, 2008Core: 1
Life:
Have you ever had a friend, parent, brother or sister or even you who have been diagnosed with a life threaten disease? If you and answer yes to that question then you will understand where I’m coming from in this post.
Well I guess I have to start from the beginning for you to understand. My little brother went to A.I DuPont yesterday just to have some normal blood workdone. When one of the specialists told my grand mother that my brother has Sickle Cell Anemia. And when I got home yester day I was told but I was like ok can’t he just take medicine for it and he’ll be alright. From the look in her face I could tell that my answer was totally wrong so I decided t go on the web on find out what Sickle Cell was and how it could be treated and how you get.
So I went onto Google searched it and I was amazed at what it was. Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease that is inherited from either your mother or your father. Your father or mother doesn’t have to actually have the disease they can just have the trait and when the child get both of the sickle cell traits from both parents they will have the disorder if they just inherits one they then have they trait that can be passed top their children. Well this disorder is caused when your red bloods cells don’t get enough hemoglobin (iron) so this causes the blood cells to take the shape of a sickle. This causes a lot of pain to the person with the disease as well as the person’s family. Doctors are still working on better cures fro the life taking disease. They have many today such as a bone marrow transplant and Hydroxyurea which is a drug that they are given to help thin their blood. Well hopefully they will find a better cure so that my eight year old brother will be able to live a normal and pain free life.

Accomplishments
May 12, 2008Core: 1 Accomplishments That Make me Better :
This year I can honestly say that I have come farther then I have in all three years of my middle school career. I have many things to be proud of myself about. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to write about them all so I am deciding to choose the two I am the most proud about. So that brings me to my first major accomplishment that I am proud of. I have been on A and B Honor Roll every semester. And I have many things that have help me get to this goal. Like the fact that I do all my class and home work that is need and then some. I do this because I learned that your education doesn’t have to be limited to the work that you are given in class you can go to your teacher and ask them for extra credit and believe most of the time they won’t refuse t give it to you because they also want to see you succeed. Also as you can already tell I do more then expected, say the teacher say to research one thing I will do that then four other things just to make sure I did the right thing. The last thing that helped me accomplish this is the fact that I read way more then I thought my brain would allow. It just happened one day in L.A when we had to read for like the first 20mins of class at first I was like “aw…. Man why dose she have us reading so much,” but then I went to the library and found many books that I was very interested and I picked just one. That didn’t last very long, but then I decided to choose two and I read them both in the same day. And now to think back I am very thankful that my language arts teacher is such a bookaholic because now I just can’t stop reading at all. And thanks to those things I have way better grades then I did last year. Another thing that I think is a huge accomplishment that I should be proud of is becoming a better person. What I mean by this is I have been making more mature decisions since the eighth grade. Like I have chosen better friends, because last year I chose to hang out with the girls who wear this and that, but now I hang out with the girls who are good in school and think about more then what boy they are going out with that week. I also express myself more. I use to just keep every thing inside and never tell any one when I was upset. Now I talk to my friends about my problems because I know they will understand and even if they don’t they pretend like they do. I also have become a way better role model for all my younger brothers. For example last year I rarely ever did my homework and they thought well since my older sister isn’t doing her homework then that means that I don’t have to do mine either. So that meant that all of us were going to fail. So I decided to do my homework more and after a while I didn’t mine it I sometime even helped them with their homework. With those accomplishment and many more under my belt I feel that pretty soon I’ll be able to get a job. Well maybe in another year or two or when I’m allowed to. Until then I’ll just conquer the little things.

New Pool for a New School
I personally think that a new pool would be a perfect addition to a new school. I think this because even though we have no pool in our current school we still have a swimming team. And for that reason and many more I think that we need new pool. This brings me to my first topic. We need a new pool so that our swimming team will not have to get up extra early in order to go to practice. And if we have one in school then the swimmers can go to practice after school or during a free period so that they are able to get in more practice time without the risk of being tired so early in the morning.Another reason for a new pool is that we can use it for other reasons. Such as to train the future beach life guards. It would be easier access then going to the YMCA and they don’t have to share it with the rest of the community. And our Life Guards will get in more training time.Oh yea and one more huge reason we can have pool parties without even leaving the campus. And that would be a good reward for the student who complete the work they are given also go above the standards.I also think that we need a pool for the swimming team more then we need and extras field. This is because we already have a field that the student who pertiapate in out door sports can use but our swim team dose not have a local pool that they can go to and practice for there meets and I think that’s just plain unfair. So or those reasons and many more I strongly believe that the new Cape Henlopen High School should have a New Pool.

Roads to Paris
This book is about a nine year old girl named Paris who has a white father and black mother; (Paris has blonde hair but darker skin) and her older brother Malcolm who are both in foster care because there mother was an alcoholic. At beginning of the book Paris is in an abusive home of foster parents. Who beat her and stuff her in closets. So she and her brother decided to run away to their grandmothers house were they stay for days. And on the fourth day Paris is awaked by the screaming of her brother. Paris runs to the living room where she finds a lady from social services dragging her brother out of the door she runs to try to stop her but her grandmother holds her back and this fills Paris with rage. Once Malcolm is gone her grandmother lets go of Paris and she vows never to talk to her again. About two days later Paris is taken to a new family. She knows that they will be just like her other foster family and that she just going to have to run away again. To her surprise the Lincolns are nothing like she thought they are loving and caring and don’t beat on her. She actually starts to like them. And finally she has found a friend. Just when she thinks that things can’t get any better they she starts to sing in her churches choir. Then out if the blue she gets a letter from her mother saying that she want Paris to come and visit her. Paris’s Feelings are all mixed up because she wants to see her mother but then she doesn’t want her t ruin what she has with the Lincolns because that’s the only real family she has ever had. After she got back from her mother she was so happy because her mother is going to let her visit Malcolm. After about a month Paris’s mother writes to the Lincolns telling them that she want her back. What will Paris Do? To find that out you have to read the book. Recommendation: I recommend this book to people who like sorrow or sadness and triumph. This book helped me understand that everyone is not the same. Some people might hurt you but then another person can come around and heal a broken heart. Also this girl went from not being able to survive with out her brother, but then she learns that she can learn to live without him from a while and became a stronger person without him. And with that I think that any person that believes that they need a certain person to get by should read this and they will also become stronger individuals.
